The Carnival of Personal Development - 9 March 2009 Edition
08 Mar 2009 by Juliet du Preez

Here it is, my first blog carnival hosting. This Personal Development Carnival was started by Jeremy of Insight Writer.

I'd have to say that it has been an interesting and, at times, somewhat baffling process. I mean, what do I do with a post on "mosquitoes"? I'm serious! It was submitted under "personal development".
So, I've:

  • Eliminated a few posts that I really can't see fitting in anywhere (I think I've given quite a bit of leeway)
  • Excluded those without a specified category (Jeremy's way of handling these)
  • Included a few of my own comments on some of them (in italics)
Feel free to give some feedback in the comments below...
Here are:

JUIET'S PICKS

Warren presents What is Happiness? posted at GenerallyThinking.com.
Is it possible to define an abstract thing like happiness?
This is the first post of a series and is very interesting indeed. For those who enjoy a bit of mental food for thought and a discussion (just up my street), head on over there.

Chris Edgar presents Getting To The "Heart" Of Public Speaking Anxiety posted at Purpose Power Coaching.
It's often said that, for many people, having to speak to an audience would be worse than death. I've come to believe people's hangups around public speaking often have to do with fear of showing their hearts to others-in other words, sharing with a group something they deeply care about. In this article, I offer some ways to get beyond that fear.
I find that Chris often has an interesting take on topics. This article provided me with just that.

Brad Swift presents Simplifying: An Upside to this Major Downturn posted at Living & Working On Purpose.
Timely article on the advantages of simplifying our lives during these turbulent times.
I feel that Brad really explains the benefits of living simply. This post is more than just a "how to". I could relate to his gentle style.

Dorian Wales presents Is Rationalization the Key to Happiness? posted at The Personal Financier.
Rationalization is a powerful defense mechanism which comes at the cost of self deception. Does honesty with oneself comes with a price in happiness?
Interesting question. What do you think?

"Who am I?" is the central question in life, and how you answer it can affect your life fundamentally.
Taking the question of "who am I" one step further.

Sarah White presents Networking versus networking posted at Alternative Livings.
I think a lot of people are intimidated by networking because they have an overly institutional or stuffy idea of how it works. This article illustrates how the best type of networking just means being a good friend!
Interesting concept - especially for those who grimace at the thought of networking.

Michael Miles presents The Science of blue feathers posted at Law of Attraction - Effortless Abundance.
Especially for those sceptics when it comes to the Law of Attraction.

Will Edwards presents How to Heighten Your Creativity posted at Making a Difference.
Read essays, articles, or books on creativity and you will more than once you will read that you can heighten your creativity and create new ideas by reading magazines that you wouldn't typically read. The suggestion is to go to your local newsstand and pick up magazines you wouldn't ever read and read them for ideas, connections and trends.
Try this out for sparking that creativity - interesting questions

Like a lot of Americans, I was raised in a school system that tried to motivate me with some fear. "You better get good grades, unless you want to dig ditches for a living." Or, "you have to have a goal or a career, or you'll just float through life," as if our worth as humans and are happiness was only determined by achieving some constructed measure of success.

Erin Pavlina presents Isn't there a less painful way to learn spiritual lessons? posted at Erin Pavlina's Blog.

Thanks for hosting the carnival Juliet. Now I'm curious whether the mosquito post was literally talking about mosquitos or was a metaphor. I think it deserves its own guest post slot. :)

It is really sad to think and doubt that your partner is cheating on you.
And it really hurts to fin out that they're having an affair despite of what hardships you made in order for him to be happy.
This really sucks but, this is the reality.

I sell a boat-program which will help you to outwit auction and to win, initially the boat was created for the Scandinavian auction http://internet-aukcion.ru/ but now the program can work with similar auctions: gagen ru, vezetmne ru and with ten.
The program-boat stakes for you, i.e. for this purpose it is not necessary to sit constantly at the monitor. The boat can set time when it is necessary to stake, thus you as much as possible will lower expenses for rates, and as much as possible increase the chances of a victory.

The price of the program a boat for the Scandinavian auctions 20$

For the first 10 clients the price 15$

To all clients free updating and support.

Behind purchases I ask in icq: 588889590 Max.
