We are in the midst of life, yet often we are simply too busy to really take a moment to experience it. We can be concentrating so intensely on what we are doing or thinking, that we don't even register our being.
-
Walk or stand in the rainI've often been on a walk and it's started to rain. Initially I might start to grumble, but I soon find that it is surprisingly refreshing to be striding through the droplets (or even torrents). Running is even more exhilarating ;) Just step outside and experience the opening of the skies next time it rains.
-
Fresh fruitSit and drink some freshly squeezed orange juice. Or take a bite out of a cool, ripe peach.
-
Gaze at the starsSit on the roof or balcony or, better yet, find a place a little away from the main city lights and stare at the stars. Look for the bright planet Venus; look for the Southern Cross. Perhaps you'll even see a shooting star.
-
Watch a sleeping childSee the peace in their faces and bodies. Notice the light, carefree breath. Perhaps rest a hand on their body and feel the miracle of such a small life.
-
A luxurious bathRun a deep bath with your favorite bath oils. Light candles around the bath and soak. Feel the warm water and the oils massage your body. Relax in the glowing light. Hear the faint popping of foam bubbles. Shut your eyes.
-
Take a Walk in NaturePerhaps along the beach. Feel the waves enclose and then leave your legs. Allow the breeze to clear away all of your stress. Let the ocean sounds form a place of meditation. Or wander through the coolness of a forest. Feel the moisture of the trees and revel in the greenery. Maybe a field. Rejoice in the open expanse, run through the grass.
-
Stroke a dogFeel the soothing strokes. Allow the connection to grow.
-
Whistle or singWhistle as you walk around the house (bare-foot) not doing anything in particular. Sing in the shower.
-
Look into somebody's eyesThey say that the eyes are a reflection of the soul. You can tell so much by looking into someone's eyes, yet how often do we do it? Really see and feel what is there in another's life.
-
In a gardenSpend some time in a garden. Watch the multitude of insects fluttering around the blossoms - the bees, the butterflies; soak in the colors; smell the scent of flowers and fresh grass. Maybe plant something.
-
Watch the cloudsLie in the garden and look up at the clouds. Marvel at their size and movement. Perhaps see what shapes you can find in them. What are they telling you?
-
Sit on a swingSwing and ride until you feel the air whizz through your hair and it seems as if you will soar away. It's fun.
-
AnimalsWalk around a farm or some horse stables and marvel at the earth's creatures. Watch them simply be. Touch.
-
Food and drinkSmell your favorite coffee brewing. Feel the silk of a smooth wine lace your tongue. Really taste and savor a meal.
-
Close your eyesFeel the peace and depth of expanded inner being. That is life.
